How Twitter changed my life…

“The average person changes careers 8 – 10 times in their lifetime.”

I’ve never been afraid to try new things, so when my friends in the IT community explained I could take my talent for writing, pair it with my real estate savvy & by using this “NEW THING” called Twitter, I could increase my sales I was thrilled.

“Wow…sign me up!” I thought. Sounded as easy as printing my own money.

Immediately, I began tweeting my little beak off only to realize I was in over my head. This Twitter stuff was hard work! Through trial & error, I was able to “meet” the good people of Twitterville who literally took me under their wings to help me Google my way through learning everything from WordPress to HTML.

One of my biggest supporters & resources was Matt Ball, a recruiter for Kforce Tech Orlando. After an initial tweet of advice on an IT related question, we realized we lived in the same county, practically the same city & both had common interests. Our Twitter friendship grew until we regularly attended networking events & helped each other grow our Twitter followings.

When an opportunity became available for an account manager in Orlando, Matt immediately tweeted me to ask, “have you ever considered a career in technology?”

I was amazed. I honestly never had considered the possibility & probably never would have if it weren’t for Twitter allowing me to meet someone like Matt.

I said yes.

Within a month of the 1st tweet about the account manager position I was on the job at Kforce Orlando. After an impressive training “boot camp” from Paul Winters, John Megally, Joley Mastanduno led by Jennifer Grey, I was able to get my first start within my 1st month.

Looking back, I would have never thought something as simple as 140 characters could change my life but it did. Twitter provided me with a connection to someone who not only cared enough about my success to help me, but keep that connection strong enough to allow him to recruit me for his team.

I just want to thank Matt Ball & my entire Kforce Orlando team. I can honestly say, I love my new career & I owe it all to Twitter.

Kforce, a NEW chapter

Kforce CEO David Dunkel writes after the opening bell was rung at Nasdaq.

Through the years, you all have followed me on my adventures across the globe & now across industries as I change careers.

After careful discussion with trusted friends in the community & economic development committees, I realized that my talents would best be served in the information technology staffing industry.

My closest friends have always said, “you can sell ice to eskimos,” but I have never really considered myself a sales person.  When choosing my career,  I have always had to consider professions where I could earn a good living to support myself & my son but also allows me to help people & my community at the same time. Working as an account manager for Kforce Technology Professional Staffing will help me achieve both!

“Really great people make you feel that you,

too, can become great.” ~Mark Twain

In the rapidly changing staffing industry, Kforce stands for stability, strength, breadth of experience, national reach and sophisticated technology.  Today, though, as it was more than 45 years ago when we began, it is our people who generate successful results.

“VOTED one of the nations BEST PLACES to WORK…”

Kforce maintains its commitment to being one of the best companies to work for by providing quality positions with a professional environment , great benefits , rewarding incentive programs  and ongoing training  for the staffing industry. In fact, this dedication has helped Kforce win “Best Places to Work” awards in cities across the county. Article –> Best Places to Work

Obama wants YOU to help spur job growth in IT!!!

Knowing that even Obama has faith that growth in technological advances, will help stimulate our sluggish economy & help the tech job market rebound, gave me confidence in my decision to switch fields.

My fondest wish is that each and every one of you continue to follow my career, support me in my efforts & help me succeed in becoming one of the best in my field.

“Anything worth doing is worth doing right…” my father always said.

My career with Kforce officially started May 2nd 2011, and I can honestly say every minute has been an education. The team of people I work with make even the most difficult sintuations seem approachable & easily managed.
