Social Networking for Realtors

chamber-socialitesEach week Realtors pick a day to gather together and “circle the wagons” so to speak. We “hunker down” and take stock in what is working, what isn’t and what we need to do to get where we want to go. Each week we focus on new things that may help us keep up in this ever changing industry.
Why would a Realtor in Clermont Florida be worth your time to follow? Once you remember that Clermont Florida was once, the fastest growing city in America, things start to get interesting. We went from the top of the real estate boom to where we are now…a community struggling to hold onto it’s roots and embrace this new era of reconstruction.
Only the best of the best are still in the Lake County real estate market. Often know as the “Suburban South Beach” when it comes to social and charitable events, Clermont is home to country folk and super stars a like.
On rolling hills, nestled between Bella Collina and Metro Orlando, Clermont offers the best that life has to offer. Come on down and see us sometime soon. We are having a Social Networking Forum Tuesday 27/01/09 at 9am sales meeting. Watson Realty agents are welcome to attend. Any realtor or interested party can call 352-243-7374 for availability. This is a free educational oppertunity and not to be missed. Bring your thoughts and an open mind!

Tax Time?

It’sa New Year.  Last year is over and with it all the problems and concerns, right? Wrong.  Time to take a body count.  That’s right let’s face it.  Last year was one of the worst for Americans in recent history.* After we pick ourselves up and brush ourselves off the first thing we do is see if anythings hurt.  Take inventory.  The sooner we know where we stand, the easier it is for us to get to where we are going.

Taxtime is now.  Now while you are sweeping away the cobwebs of ’09 be sure to save any receipts, check stubs, bank statements, W-9′s or financial documents you may find lying around the house.  Better record keeping should be on everyone’s New Year’s resolution list, I know it is on mine.  Keeping track of what you are spending can save you thousands of dollars in unclaimed tax credits.

Ina recent article from Kiplinger.com they had this to say, “The opportunity for mistakes is almost unlimited. The most recent numbers show that about 46 million of us itemized deductions on our 1040s — claiming nearly 1 trillion dollars’ worth of deductions. That’s right: $1,000,000,000,000! Another 85 million taxpayers claimed more than half a trillion dollars’ worth of standard deductions. Some of those who took the easy way out probably shortchanged themselves.”

Why would seemingly intelligent Americans opt out of taking more deductions than they possibly could have?  Fear and disorganization.  They were afraid it would be a waste of time…Now more than ever time is money.  Recently many of us have more time on our hands than we would like, with the slowing economy.  Perfect time to get back to basics.  Forget the past poor habits and begin forming new ones…

Reality is Perception

*While writing my recent article for Kimberanna.com I stumbled upon a photo that made me pause to reflect.  (Dug http://villageofjoy.com/amazing-3d-sidewalk-art/ ) The photographer featured  Rosalind Rattus, melded Art & Photography.  Her pic perfectly described my Reality is Perception theory.
Example Of 3D Sidewalk Art: The Artist "Faces" Himself! by RedRoseRattus.
My outlook on life is that you are what you create.
Wake up every morning, put on your make up or don’t.
Do what makes you feel beautiful, special, unique.
Every experience you have, every article you read, every friend that you make sculpts the ‘package’ that the world sees when they look at you.
If this is true, “Can I change who I am, by changing how I appear?”
Fake it til you make it?
The answer is simpler than that.
Just be who you are…
Example Of 3D Sidewalk Art: Square Of Slabs "Removed" From Sidewalk! by RedRoseRattus.
The answer is a secret, that everyone knows the answer to…
Can you control your own destiny?
Obviously more learned men than I, (Bob Costos, lol.) have wrestled with this question throughout history.
If you do something seven times, (I think it’s seven, couldn’t find it atm) it becomes habit.
Yet MIT discovered even if you take the treat at the end of the maze away, the rats would still follow the same path hoping for the cheese.  Why?
They fear the unknown more than the known.
When faced with a path that we perceive as safe or known, most of us will always pick that one, even if the only reward is knowing you will get somewhere.
EDUCATE YOURSELF.
Knowledge is power and is available to everyone.
FREE.
Pick who you want to be and become it…

Example Of 3D Sidewalk Art: A "Dead Fly" Lies On The Sidewalk! by RedRoseRattus.
We all have challenges that pop up, usually when we think we can handle them the least.
Once again we must train our minds with relativity and overcome like David did Goliath.
The size of the problem may seem trivial when compared to the bigger picture.
You may be losing your home but your family is safe, you are healthy.
Your child wasn’t killed to avoid paying child support.
We have built ourselves up to the point we are today once, so we can and will do it again.
This time learning from our mistakes.
Build a solid foundation.
Wealth is not the measure of happiness.
Happiness is the measure of wealth.
Example Of 3D Sidewalk Art: A "Coca-Cola Bottle" Lies On The Sidewalk! by RedRoseRattus.
On Friday when your check hits the bank and you feel like a little pick me up, does taking the kids to McDonald’s to have Happy meals and play in the balls seem more special when you clear $600 a week than $10K?
Do you bring your camera to catch every smile or grin?
Do the kids know the difference?
Did you take the time to tie up their shoes or grumble for them to hurry up?
Don’t regret the past while you ignore the present.
Reality is always perception through the eyes of a child.
Our actions create their reality.
Surround yourself with them and learn perspective.
Sometimes just having them around makes me feel like I do when I see an old fashioned coke bottle.
That stolen moment ripped from the past…I pop off the cap and I’m back in Nelsonville, Ohio sitting by my Aunt Lorna, middle of summer watching the Parade of the Hills.
The world is at my feet.
“When I grow up, I want to be just like you!”, I coo as I sit watching her selling tickets for the Professional Woman’s Club.
“25 cents a ticket, 5 for $1.  Win this nice quilt!” I mimic.
A kid again… Future President of the United States.

Example Of 3D Sidewalk Art: The Artist Reaches For His "Box Of Chalks"! by RedRoseRattus.
Now that you know the secret, you have the tools to create whatever future you truly desire.
Not what will get you the big house or the shiney car.
The you that enjoys your job, that doesn’t have anyone to answer to nor anyone to blame.
Let go and become what you really are inside.
Break down all your walls, use the tools your maker gave you and design a reality that reflects who you really are.
Not what the world has forced you to become.
BE HONEST. BE YOU.
Example Of 3D Sidewalk Art: Batman & Robin Rescue The Artist From a "Tall Building"! by RedRoseRattus.
Let the real you become the new you, the new you should be the real you.
Take stock of what you know you are.
What you like, what you can change, what you want to change.
Why do you need to change?
Write it down, use it as a reminder of what NOT to do.
Never forget the mistakes you made wear them as a badge of honor.
BATTLE SCARS…
What do you want? Visualize it.
Taste it, smell it, walk around inside it…literally, figuratively whatever.
You must know where you are going in order to make a roadmap for the trip there.
If you don’t know the way, follow someone.
Ask for directions.
It’s going to be a long journey, pack light.
Bring only your faith, thirst for knowledge and an open heart.
Let the inner hero in you breath life.
LIVE.LOVE.LAUGH…leave a LEGACY.

Ways & Means Chair, Women’s council of Realtors

kimsharon-wcr

kim-and-terry-wcr-0801091

Once a month the SLWCR has their Education luncheon. Each meeting a guest speaker comes to give us first hand advice.Today we learned about tax tips! These meetings are also great because I get to speak! Here is today’s nugget of wisdom…In a bar near a bridge. Everyone says start out with a JOKE right? Here goes…
A guy & girl walk into a bar, they both order  Scotch on the rocks.

The guy says “Hi I’m Tom & I’m a home inspector.”

The girl orders another drink and says “Nice to meet you, Kimber and I’m a Realtor.”

 ”Isn’t 12:00 a little early to be here?”he asks.

”Actually, a little late. If I’d have met you sooner, I wouldn’t feel like ordering a drink right now!”
How many times has a deal fallen through because you worked w/someone you shouldn’t have trusted? The bar in this joke is this one. Tom is a member of WCR & just gave me an excellant tool to help me make more money & prevent me from having to ‘correct’ a problem. Now more than ever we need to work smart, not hard.
The US government, you & I, even Obama are now focusing on the economy. They are realizing the key to success this year is planning. Spending money to try to earn money is throwing good money after bad. My job as W/M Chair is to raise funds to provide us all w/educational scholarships & keep our organization running smoothly.
“Ask not what your contry can do for you, first ask, what can I do for my country.” JFK
Be the first to help me help you. I ask each & every one of you to plz donate any new Christmas gifts you can’t use (chocolates if you started a diet etc.), business owners donate discontinued items, anything of VALUE. If you have nothing to donate, give me your time. Together we will move mountains & have an unforgetable year, I promise.
Remember, every day we are working to achieve our goals. Incorporate WCR into every day & you will make more money than you ever expected. HOW, you ask?  The Joke I told you is actually a true story!

”Tom went on to refer me buyer that bought a foreclosed home. I recommended him to do the home inspection. We both ended up with 100% return on our investment. United we stand, divided we fall. TEAMWORK PEOPLE!”

New Years Resolutions

  happy-new-year1

Every year the same thing happens. We all run around like crazy trying to create the perfect holiday season. We get together with friends & family we missed throughout the year, attempting to make up for lost time. We try to squeeze in everything we possibly can and still do it on a budget! The stress of it all leads to lots drinking! (giggles)
By New Years Eve most of us are just so worn down from our efforts and ready for the old year to end that we make plans to party like ROCK STARS. The excessive drinking leads to excessive babbling, promises and YES…I think that’s where the New Years Resolutions were born.
A bunch of overworked, overstimulated people begging for a fresh start, grasping at whatever we feel we can control.
“Controling our own destiny!” Bob Costas would cring.
I think the only way to be successful is to get organized and get over it. “Fail to plan and you plan to fail!” and “Inspect, what you expect” should be in all our minds. I’m taking the day to see where I am so I know what I have to do to get where I am going.
Below you will see lists of New Years Resolutions! I never want to miss out on a good one so I would love it if you can share yours with me. Honestly, we never know what we are missing until we know…so maybe what help you can help me too.
1. Listen MORE talk LESS
2. Face my fears
3. Organize my life: office, home, car, comp. files etc.
4. Make important skills for success into habit!
5. Regain my pre-winter body in time for beach season;D

COME ON PEEPS>>>> What ya got?vue-nyevue-3

“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!”

We all know the best way to survive in a changing market is to first use the resources you already have.  If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!” some wise person once said.  So this year, I want you all to know what to expect from me as your Ways & Means Chair.  My job is to MAKE YOU MONEY!  I need your help to earn money that will in turn, provide us all with opportunities we may not have been able to afford on our own.  United we Stand, Divided we Fall.”terry

I will not bombard you with requests for help constantly throughout the year.  I will, however, strive to meet with each and every one of you to find out how you can help me make our organization great.  We all joined the SLWCR for a reason.  I want to help you reach that goal while helping me earn the money to pay for our dreams.  We only have two things in this life with measurable value, TIME or MONEY.  If you can not help me with a donation, you can simply donate your time!  It will be well worth it, I promise;D  RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!!!”
My first BIG idea is ReGift/ReInvest in your SLWCR*!*
 ascot-winners
ReGift/ReInvest: Bring your unwanted gifts to the January SLWCR lunch in a small unmarked bag or just drop them off at my office (WATSON big building on Hancock directly across from Super Target)!  Admit it…we all have gifts that are perfectly nice but just aren’t something we would have picked for ourselves.  Why hide it away, afraid to hurt someone’s feelings, give them to me!  I will turn them into delightful Guest speaker gifts, Gift baskets for raffles, and door prizes for future events.  “One man’s Trash is another man’s Treasure!”
So ladies, and gentlemen; “Please give me your gym memberships, your smoked meats and canned fruit, clip on ties and yes even those self help books…I can and will use them for the good of SLWCR and get them out of your house at the same time!”  This year will be the best ever, because we won’t accept anything less.
“We are prepared, our goals defined…We will Overcome in 2009!!!!!”
SPREAD THE WORD.  FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO ANYONE THAT YOU KNOW CAN AND WILL BE A DRIVING FORCE IN OUR INDUSTRY IN 2009.
 door-prizes
Thank you…see you in ’09 if not sooner
HAPPY HOLIDAYS

RECOVERY & REPAIR

Sitting in bed, home sick & bored. Clicking between VH1 & CNBC I find myself hypnotised by the sheer drama of the stock market. “Recovery & repair is what we need to focus on…” I hear as clearly as the market bell.
They are discussing the “instability” of our economic future, triggered by our housing market tumble. TARP is the current “bailout” to save GM & the other American car makers. Why should we give federal aide to car makers because Americans don’t want to buy American? Because they support 400 million households that work in that industry. They of course can’t pay their own bills because gas prices are making people buy foreign more energy efficient cars not, American Gas guzzlers. Why can’t we afford gas? We have to pay an extra $1 per gallon, yet due to slow economy make less income. Increased oil prices impacted everything from shipping to grocery shopping to changing jobs due to down sizing. The market needs profit so if costs go up they must cut expenses…eventually, jobs. Even the strongest, proudest American can’t pay their mortgage if they lose their job, have nothing left in home equity & no matter what he sells, he owes more than he can ever pay.
So Recovery and Repair is urgently needed. How we can do it the actual question. Yes, the housing market is answer. Land is always the solution.
Our nation was built by people who braved deserts, floods & wild animals in search of a plow & 50 acres. ‘A man’s house is his home ,’ or God bless America, LAND that I love…
We MUST remember our country is the greatest in the world. We have freedoms & pride no other fledgling nations can compare to. Our homes must be our homesteads.
We must band together & support our country, our communities, our neighbors. If we don’t walk away, fight for our legal rights we can save our homes. These banks can & must negotiate. Until they do & loosen the purse strings, we will not succeed. They must help keep people in their homes or let new homeowners buy at reasonable rates.
