East Ridge Knights BEAT APOPKA

Jeffrey Costello, Kevin Tufts“That’s right…after a LONG hard week of TEAM rivalry the REAL champions EARNED the title of the BEST IN THE WEST!”

brighthouseLong time rivals East Ridge High School and Apopka JV FOOTBALL teams went head to head last night in a “BATTLE OF THE TITANS.” Amongst rumors of college talent scouts, BRIGHTHOUSE camera crews & DIE HARD local fans…this game lived up to ALL THE HYPE!

The KNIGHTS lead the charge, firing off its first TOUCHDOWN early in the 1st quarter. TEAM SPIRIT, football fire & that “RAW hunger to beat your most RESPECTED rival” was so THICK in the Florida night air that not even the constant BUZZ of misquitos could penetrate it.

Our Knights bench actually LED the CHEERS chanting “Let’s go DEFENSE, Let’s GO…” Imagine the sight of a TEAM of BIG, strong boys Clapping & Chanting as one, actually brought a tear to my eye to see such FOCUS in such a YOUNG but TALENTED football TEAM.

Lady KNIGHTS were not to be outdone, lending their VOICES to the CHANT atop four perfectly executed FULLY EXTENDED STUNTS! Our school is blessed to have both young men & women who LOVE the GAME & TEAM SPIRIT. Together they LED the East Ridge Knights to a STUNNING VICTORY over the APOPKA BLUE DARTERS!

FINAL SCORE 28-33

apopka varsityBright side: Apopka’s VARSITY TEAM came out to show their JV some LOVE: I was able to meet some of the most polite & well spoken young gentlemen in Central Florida last night. Not only did they allow me to step in fron of them in line for tickets but they helped others to the gate, led the CHEERS for JV & even offered support over the loss instead of ridicule. GREAT PEOPLE, good town…THANK YOU for hosting our team at your beautiful FOOTBALL Stadium.

COPENHAGEN CONNECTION: It’s cold. The sun is shining brightly, if you stand still someplace place directly in it, you warm up…but the wind coming in off the ocean is frigid. I nestle closer. Inhaling, I feel alive as the salty sweet air cleanses my lungs and plays jump rope with my hair. The guide explains the history behind every building. She speaks four languages and adds humor to each, as she attempts to focus our gazes upon this massive building perched at the ocean’s edge. This one in particular is a National treasure, the Royal Theater/ Opera House. Morten whispers the secrets about the theater that aren’t in the travel guides. His words dance across the waves as the sound of his voice transports me back to the beginning and I discover the history it has to offer…

"The History of the Royal Danish Theatre
In the period 1722-1728, the Danish dramatist Ludvig Holberg, in an unprecedented outburst of creativity, wrote a series of comedies that laid down the foundations of modern Danish theatre. His works were staged in the ‘Comedy House’ (Commediehuus) in Copenhagen’s Lille Grønnegade. The advent of state pietism put an abrupt end to the festivities in Lille Grønnegade, but after the death of the pious king Christian VI in 1648, amore liberal attitude prevailed in the capital. A small group of actors, remembering and saluting Holberg’s ‘poetical rapture’, exploited the new cultural atmosphere in Copenhagento form their own company. On the occasion of the opening of the theatre in 1748, they were just 8 actors and 4 actresses, and they performed two French comedies. A company of this size was only just able to fill out the roles involved in a revival of the ‘good old days’ of Holberg and Molière’s comedies in Lille Grønnegade. Later on, there followed the comedies of Beaumarchais and his roguish barber Figaro – and a vogue for sentimental German drama." …..read more at <a href=”

VOTE “NO” on Ammendment 4

ralsc tallahasseeREALTORs and concerned citizen’s everywhere are buzzing about AMMENDMENT 4 (formerly known as Hometown Democracy). We no longer want to call it Hometown Democracy because most people think those words mean something entirely different from what Ammendment 4 really represents.

Ammendment 4 is another instance where the basic principal was sound, “allow the community to take an active stance on regulations regarding zoning, planning & growth in small towns all over Florida.” What they fail to explain to people is they have no funding towards educating these people who will be voting…

So, LONG STORY SHORT: We the people (usually uneducated about the issues) will be able to cast votes for every issue formerly governed by City Councils or City management. In theory, it’s wonderful…but what about the POWER OF THE PRESS???

We have all seen what people will do to get into the paper, imagine the chance to VOTE on an issue simply to get your name in the paper? Many believe that there are too many ways people can SWAY the vote. FREE giveaways to people who VOTE for this or that. FREE bus rides for people wanting to get out to the polls. The list COULD go on & on…

“Do you think there are people in America that would VOTE on an issue without being EDUCATED on the issues?”

“Do you believe it is worth the EXPENSE of individual ballots every time there is a VOTE for a variance, zoning issue, or approval for companies moving into the area.”

Whiskey Lullabye

Talk about tough song to try for your first time @ Karoke?

Can you believe the filling in my tooth fell out & my teeth kept whistling through the chorus.

*SIGH…

“Whiskey Lullaby”
(feat. Alison Krauss)

She put him out like the burnin’ end of a midnight cigarette
She broke his heart he spent his whole life tryin’ to forget
We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time
But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind
Until the night

[1st Chorus]
He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away her memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength he had to get up off his knees
We found him with his face down in the pillow
With a note that said I’ll love her till I die
And when we buried him beneath the willow
The angels sang a whiskey lullaby

(Sing lullaby)

The rumors flew but nobody knew how much she blamed herself
For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath
She finally drank her pain away a little at a time
But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind
Until the night

[2nd Chorus]
She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger
And finally drank away his memory
Life is short but this time it was bigger
Than the strength she had to get up off her knees
We found her with her face down in the pillow
Clinging to his picture for dear life
We laid her next to him beneath the willow
While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby

(Sing lullaby)

Hmmm….wonder where Elks Club Mike is tonight???
