*Giggles…that’s right guys & dolls, it’s that time of year again! School is right around the corner & that means POP WARNER & FOOTBALL SEASON are here again. I must admit it’s my favorite time of year:D
This year I am coaching the midget squad which is the highest age division in POP WARNER. (You can go to that link if you want to know the full story about Pop Warner. It’s a story you will really enjoy.) This is the last step before most of these girls will be trying out for the high school squads. The pressure is on for me to help them prepare now for that level of cheerleading.
Today is the day I get to meet my new squad for the 1st time. I kind of have those cheer tryouts butterflies since this is my 1st day back since I took a break from coaching. I know the girls may be nervous about meeting thier “new coach” but there is only one of me & dozens of them:D Luckily, I have Magali & the Cheryls as back up. Kind of a dream team of coaching, I think. Cheryl Scruggs is a former head cheer coach who specializes in stunting, Cheryl Cox who has coached through three successful cheerleader daughters & future “Rookie of the Year” Magali. Magali may be new to you but she has mad skills & will be part of the peanut butter that keeps this snadwich together:D
I know I have a few returning girls from my last nationally placed team, but many new faces. In fact we still have room for a few extra if there are still ladies out there who want to take up the challenge of being a part of a competitive cheer squad & live in the East Ridge HS School area:D Ohhh…also have to be under 15, sorry Ms Marty. However we can always use fans to come out & cheer our teams on! GOOOO CLERMONT KNIGHTS!
I know as I look over the girls faces I will be surprised at how mature they all look, how much they have grown in such a short time, and how much potential they each have. My goal is to help them become the women I know they can be, by teaching them the discipline & determination they need to succeed in the sport of cheer & life. Together we will help each other achieve a goal & represent our community to the best of our ability.
My coaching team and I believe that the biggest part of CHEERLEADING is leadership. Not only do we ask our squad to be good at the sport of cheer we ask them to lead by good example, represent our team with pride & give back to the community through volunteering.
CLERMONT KNIGHTS MIDGETS CHEERLEADERS are offically taking our 1st step to Nationals today @ 10:00 am at Highlander Field. Sign up information is available at the field or http://clermontknights.com
LET’s MAKE IT A GREAT YEAR!!!
