Today marks the 50th anniversary of Rock

and Roll Legend Billy Holly’s infamous plane

crash. Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story,

a musical opens tonight in Sydney,Australia,

50 years to the day that the 22-year-old died

Remembered by most for his hit song Peggy Sue, Holly produced a large collection of music and fans! Here is what “capnquirky”  a You Tube fan had to say:

Buddy Holly inspired many of today’s rising stars, possibly most suprisingly, Weezer.  Seen here on “Happy Days’ performing their hit single “Buddy Holly,” written by Rivers Cuomo.  The single was released on what would have been Buddy Holly‘s 58th birthday…want to hear more?

Charles Hardin Holley, known professionally as Buddy Holly until his  death in an airplane crash, on February 3, 1959 at the age young of 22.  His year and a half in music has left a mark on the face of music that will last many lifetimes.
