Terry Parsons, "Rookie of the Year," Multi-Million Dollar Producer*

In the life of a Realtor, a picture in the paper

is not usually a very big deal. Realtors

pay tons of money in ads just to get our

homes sold and attract new customers. A

free, almost full page “ATTA BOY” about a

job well done, stops us in our tracks. The

South Lake Press kindly reposted the

presentation speech I had surprised my

sister with, when she won “Rookie of the Year!”

 PARSONS WINS AWARD

The Greater Lake County Association of REALTORS® presented Terry Parsons of Watson Realty Corp., REALTORS® with the Rookie of the Year award at the Annual Membership & Installation Banquet on Dec. 19. The Rookie of the Year Award honors the REALTOR® member of the Greater Lake County Association of REALTORS® who has contributed the most to the profession within their first full year in real estate as a member of the Association.

Nominations were based on ethics, character, and personality, business accomplishments, activity at local levels, and involvement in real estate transactions.

If Ms. Parsons came with a label, it would read, “WARNING: appearances may be deceiving.”   Terry exemplifies, “Walk softly and carry a big stick.”

She was born the “middle child” to a proud all-American Army family, her life was spent on the move. Traveling throughout the United States and Europe by car or by plane, whether visiting wonders of the world such as the Grand Canyon on vacation or being “deployed” alongside her father’s many moves while serving his country every 2-3 years, she learned early the importance of “Home.” No matter where her family moved, home was always the same. She began her real estate education, quickly becoming an expert on relocation, renting, buying, and listing more homes with her family than most would in a lifetime before the age of 18.

She worked her way through college, partly as a single mother with a partial cheerleading scholarship to South Florida Community College by qualifying for the prestigious OWL scholarship for her outstanding performance as an adult student. She worked full time in grocery store management and earned her BA from Middle Tennessee State University with a dual major in Chemistry and Biology. She was named “2002 Senior Honor Student” for those departments.

Voted “Most likely to become a Supermodel” by her high school girlfriends, she was always known as a doctor in training. So it was as much a surprise to her, as it was to everyone else, when she obtained her real estate license in July 2007.

In her first year as a full time agent, she successfully negotiated short sales, foreclosures, international real estate transactions and managed to become a Multi-Million Dollar producer with over $2.5 million in sales.

She is the Secretary of the South Lake Chapter of the Women’s Council of REALTORS® , co-chair for the Royal Ascot Fashion Show, a Care Giver to her retired parents, and she teaches life skills to middle school students for Junior Achievement in Lake County.

FREE LUNCH

pollo-trop

 Written by:

~8>l Kimberanna_com

How many times have you heard the phrase, “there’s no such thing as a free lunch?”  Well, I am usually a big supporter of that statement, yet Pollo Tropical, located at 2625 E Hwy 50 in Clermont Florida has proven me wrong!

See how helpful our local businesses are in couponClermont Florida?
If you forgot your coupon at home, they even had additional
ones provided at the door. This is truly not just a way for Pollo
Tropical to make money. They obviously care about the community. Already outstanding members of the Chamber of Commerce, Pollo Tropical has already had an open house/ribbon cutting when they first opened to let the community see what they had to offer.  They provided live music, free food and activities for the kids.
n1346612368_30249598_1439Pollo Tropical Marketing people deserve a big round of applause. They host these events for charities such as the Educational Foundation of Lake County all year long.  In addition to the free food, Pollo Tropical donated $1 for every coupon redeemed to help fund the Educational Foundation of Lake County.
“Our students get to achieve more when the foundation can raise the funds linda-fordfor important programs!” Linda Ford, of the Educational Foundation of Lake County commented.  Several student, teachers and volunteers came out to help support this wonderful cause.

Social Networking II

smn4

“Hey gang…these are the instructions I promised. Please log in as instructed to claim your free website.
If you have any questions let me know. Anyone who put a business card with a quote about how you thought my free “Social Networking Seminar” went, into my mailbox…gets a free 15 minute booster meeting w/me!”

STEP 1. Make a website! Do your home work 1st. There is no sense in getting traffic to your site if you can not handle the business you get. Be sure you have all the correct contact information on your site to ensure you do get those calls and e-mails.
-Don’t have a site? No problem, the MFRMLS is putting your money to work for you! See below how to get your personalized website. Free w/membership.smn2

Retrieving your Custom Link. Go to the MyFloridaHomesMLS.com click on the “Members Only” link at the bottom of the www.MyFloridaHomesMLS.com home screen. Log in using your MLXchange ID and password. Your custom link which should be added at the end of www.MyFloridaHomesMLS.com will be shown at the bottom of the screen. Example: If the custom link says “/RealtorJoe” your custom URL would be www.MyFloridaHomesMLS.com/RealtorJoe. After obtaining your custom link, it can be embedded as a hyperlink on any personal website which will provide an excellent property search that surpasses other IDX solutions and will also save you money! The custom links can also be shared with your clients so that leads are sent directly back to you.
-Website designers can also build you a custom site. Be sure to get all the rights to your site so you will not have to continue to pay for the site into the future.
-Try creating a WordPress Blog. It is a simple 5 minute process that most beginners can master pretty easily.smn3

STEP 2. Brand yourself! On a sheet of paper, write down all your screen names, e-mail names, nicknames, what you want to be known for. Accentuate your positive and make it your own. Go out and grab that name before it is too late! MSN Live, Twitter, MySpace, FaceBook, Digg, Linked, Blogger, Acid Rain, Flickr, FriendsFeed and Google are all good Social Networking sites.
-BEST TIP EVER* As you create your accounts. Use a password saving program or simply save to your phone, all account usernames and passwords. This will save you time in the future.

STEP 3. What is Social Networking and why do I need to know? Social Networking is basically getting out there and making as many connections as possible. It starts locally through places, like the Chamber, Pop Warner, Golf club, PTA, or business groups. Use the names and contacts you already have and expand. Most sites have the ability to ipload your current contacts to get “connected” with them on these various sites. Why do you need these sites?
-Currently, even fortune 500 companines and top CEO’s visit these sites doing recruiting, marketing and market research.
-Sales is a numbers game…the number of closed deals you make is a direct result of how many people you contact! If you meet 100 people on the internet, marketing effectively you have a better chance to earn business than if you only met 10 people a day in person.
-REFERALS…how many of you get referrals from E-business? How do you think they get those referrals? “Agents” man pop up chat screens and basically wait for clients surfing the internet to click in and ask them about real estate. If you are on-line working anyway, shouldn’t you be getting those contacts directly?

STEP 4. Be yourself! There are thousands of Realtors currently fighting for the same business. Let’s face it, only the best of the best are still in the industry. Right now, those who stay ahead of the market are the ones will succeed. Focus on being the best YOU that you are and clients looking for your unique personality will follow.
-It will not be an immediate result. People on the internet are just as cautious as the rest of us. Remember, people on the internet like facts. If you make a claim, back it up with a link, picture or resource. This is the multimedia generation, a simple picture will not work.social-networing-seminar

STEP 5. Consistancy. You must log onto your sites daily or as often as you can. Consider it a job. When you are logged onto the internet, you are working. Consider yourself a Real Estate resource and be sure to speak up when comments are made that you do not agree with. Be prepared to defend your position and help when needed. Do not expect business just for helping. You may not get the business of the person you help but someone else may notice and use you next time.
-Is there a Realtor in the house? Don’t set up a site if you don’t check it. Fastest way to lose a client is to not reply to their e-mails.
-Download applications to your cell phones! Use your camera to double your market share. A picture really is worth a thousand words…video is almost priceless.
-Educate yourself. Daily I find myself Googling something to research “how to.” If you find some good info share it with the rest of the team.

REMEMBER: Social Networking is a way to build a solid marketing foundation. If you are a new Realtor, you can quickly build your client base. If you are a seasoned veteran social networking is the perfect way to keep in touch with past clients! A happy former client can earn you several more if you stay in contact. FB, MS and the rest even remind you of your clients birthdays! Stay in the loop and stay connected. If you do good work and are easy to find, clients will find you.

NEXT TIME: How to use your sites to stay organized, manage tax deductions, upload pics/videos/links etc. More FaceBook tips!

REALITY IS PERCEPTION…PERCEPTION IS REALITY
How do people see you? Google yourself? Do you even show up? If you are a person relocation to the area, how would you find a Realtor? Think about it…

Remember Alex

remember-alex2

PLEASE READ THIS… I DO NOT POST MANY THAT ARE THIS SERIOUS
BUT THIS ONE IS WORTH IT, I PROMISE
Many of you are friends and family that I have not had the chance to speak with in a long time but you have been in my thoughts and prayers.  I wanted to take a minute to let you know how precious you all are, were and will always be to me.
Recently I was able to reconnect with someone who was like a little sister to me only to find out that the reason we had lost touch was that a tragedy had changed her life.  I had left messages, e-mails and kept missing her.  Finally one day I got an e-mail that changed my life too.  She told me she could barley speak about it but that her baby brother Alex had tragically died in an accident a few months prior.  Alex was only 13 and the mirror image of Jeffrey in so many ways.  My heart broke and I felt so awful that I could not be there to help her in her time of need and grief.  Alex has a web page http://www.rememberalex.com if anyone would like to stop in and show your love.  Many of you may have received his father’s CD as a Christmas present from me because I love his music (Jeffrey Steele).  He recently wrote a song, “Son” and the lyrics are on the page…If you have the time just to read them they will touch you.
The purpose of this e-mail is not to pass along sadness but to remind everyone that it is so important to remember those who have touched your life and brought you joy.  True friendships and love can not be faded by time or distance.  Please take a minute to e-mail or call those you have thought you have missed for too long to reconnect with.  Don’t let the next phone call or e-mail be to let you know it is too late to ever tell them you love them and how much they mean to you.
If we can each take the 30 seconds to forward this to the ones we think we have lost maybe it will open the door and give you both the second chance to get back in touch.  If just one person replies then the memory of Alex has made a difference and each new memory made is a gift from Alex.

Emilee Cox, Cheerleader, Honor’s student and #1 Texter in the World?

Emilee Cox

Emilee Cox

Seems we have a lot of people who like to throw stones, when it comes to the title of Queen of texting!  Recently 14 year old High School (Clermont Florida) student Emilee Cox was recognized for making 35,463  texts in the month of June alone!  That breaks down to 1,182+ texts a day, 49+ texts an hour or almost a text a minute.

Several of you may doubt the validity of this claim, Orlando Sentinel reporter Etan Horowitz verified this information with Sprint and received an actual copy of the June statement from Emilee’s father, Brad Cox.  As a former cheerleading coach and current friend of the Cox family, I can tell you that Emilee will perhaps exceed that record in the very near future.  Emilee Cox is not only a bright and social teen, she is a vital part of her close knit family of nine.  Texting playing an important part in keeping the family informed and organized.

Emilee Cox and her family should not be criticized for her high number of texts.  How many parents out there can brag their children put that many thoughts into print, EVER?  Twitter, (a free social messaging utility for staying connected in real-time) is based upon the same limited character format as texting and is fast becoming a leading method of communication among the tech industry elite and scholars alike ,due to the ease of conveying information in quick, easy to read “footprints” instead of more long drawn out news media outlets.   Many phone experts even reccomend using texting after disasters, texting actually being an excellent way to teach teens how to convey concise and detailed information in clear simple manner.

In an era when most teens spend their time flicking through TV channels, reading and writing have fallen by the wayside.  Emilee Cox has divoted her time to communication.  Ms. Cox definately has things to say as evident by her 35,463 texts from June.  The question is, is the world ready for this new generation of ”plugged in” teens?  I’m keeping my eye on Emilee Cox… don’t be surprised to find that Ms. Cox may possibly change the face of Social Networking as we know it.  Can’t we get this girl a scholarship instead of scorn? Shouldn’t we reward creative minds…

Tune in next week to see Emilee Cox on Good Morning America…
