Jingle Bells are ringing, cash registers are cha-chinging…
“Tis the Season to be jolly…” and of course wrap up all the loose ends of 2008 and prepare for an amazing 2009! This year was one of overcoming obstacles to become the best of the best. My sister Terry picked this year to try her hand at real estate. with exceptional results! She did so well that I decided to nominate her for “Rookie of the Year!” My nomination went something like this:
The secret to success is to start with a goal and make a plan to achieve it. My goal is to convince you to make my sister and partner Terry Parson’s Rookie of the Year! Just as I do in real estate, I like to assume the sale. Please step into my reality and let me know if you agree with me…
“If our 2008 Rookie of the Year came with a label, it would read, “WARNING: appearances may be deceiving!” This person exemplifies, *”Walk softly and carry a big stick.”
A recipe for this “rookie” would be to add equal parts bookworm/cheerleader, mother/daughter, teacher and full time student of life. Don’t forget that you also need all natural 100% multi million dollar producer ingredients!
Born the “middle child” to a proud all-American Army family, her life was spent on the move! Traveling throughout the United States and Europe by car or by plane, whether visiting wonders of the world such as the Grand Canyon on vacation or being “deployed” along side our father’s many moves while serving his country ever 2-3 yrs, she learned early the importance of “HOME.” No matter where our family moved, home was always the same. That was also when she began her real estate education! Quickly becoming an expert on relocation, renting, buying, and listing more homes with her family than most would in a lifetime before the age of 18, this Rookie understands our business the old fashioned way…by doing!.
This year’s Rookie’s formal training was no less extensive. She worked her way through college, partly as a single mother. Beginning with her partial cheerleading scholarship to SFCC to qualifying for the prestigious OWL scholarship for her outstanding performance as an adult student, taking full time credits while working full time in grocery store management, she learned early if there is a will there is indeed a way. This over achiever went on to earn her BA from MTSU with a dual major in Chemistry and Biology, even being named “2002 Senior Honor Student” for those departments.
Voted “Most likely to become a Supermodel” by her high school girlfriends, our rookie was always known as a doctor in training. So it was as much a surprise to her, as it was to everyone else when she obtained her real estate license in July of 2007. When asked what made her consider going into real estate our Rookie has commented, “Honestly, I went on a cruise to Costa Rica last summer with my sister and her company’s top agents. I had always been a little jealous because her boss was always sending her to places like Greece or Montreal so I was so excited when I decided to go on this cruise. Actually being on that cruise with that level of people made me realize how amazing real estate really was…I decided right on that boat, I’m going to be a Realtor and work for Papa Watson too.”
In her first year as a full time agent our Rookie has already successfully negotiated short sales, foreclosures, international real estate transactions and managed to become a multimillion dollar producer in the worst real estate/credit crisis in recent history. Not bad for your typical first year college educated Realtor right? Throw in the fact she ia also Secretary of SLWCR, co-chair for the Royal Ascot Fashion Show, caregiver to her retired parents, teaches life skills to middle school students for JA and is also the mother of 4 whose ages range from 3 to 15!
Ladies and gentlemen, our 2008 Rookie of the Year is….Terry Parsons!”
Please make my dream of having my sister win the Rookie of the Year come true!
