ny-resolutions
May peace break into your house and may thieves

come to steal your debts. May the pockets of your

jeans become a magnet of  $100 bills. May love stick

to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault

your lips! May your clothes smell of success like

smoking tires and may happiness slap you across

the face and may your tears be that of joy. May the

problems you had forget your home address! In

simple words …………

May 2009 be the best year of our life!!!

New Years Resolutions

  happy-new-year1

Every year the same thing happens. We all run around like crazy trying to create the perfect holiday season. We get together with friends & family we missed throughout the year, attempting to make up for lost time. We try to squeeze in everything we possibly can and still do it on a budget! The stress of it all leads to lots drinking! (giggles)
By New Years Eve most of us are just so worn down from our efforts and ready for the old year to end that we make plans to party like ROCK STARS. The excessive drinking leads to excessive babbling, promises and YES…I think that’s where the New Years Resolutions were born.
A bunch of overworked, overstimulated people begging for a fresh start, grasping at whatever we feel we can control.
“Controling our own destiny!” Bob Costas would cring.
I think the only way to be successful is to get organized and get over it. “Fail to plan and you plan to fail!” and “Inspect, what you expect” should be in all our minds. I’m taking the day to see where I am so I know what I have to do to get where I am going.
Below you will see lists of New Years Resolutions! I never want to miss out on a good one so I would love it if you can share yours with me. Honestly, we never know what we are missing until we know…so maybe what help you can help me too.
1. Listen MORE talk LESS
2. Face my fears
3. Organize my life: office, home, car, comp. files etc.
4. Make important skills for success into habit!
5. Regain my pre-winter body in time for beach season;D

7 people…in a Foursome!

Tales from the Fireside: …so she was 30 yrds out, could have been 40, over a sandtrap. Richard Parsons had hit a fantastic 60 yrd shot 2 ft from the hole…blocking Kimber’s path to perfection. Then Kimber hit a 35 yrd pitch over the sandtrap, perfect pitch into Richard’s ball knocking it into hole. Kimber is always a giver….she didn’t get it in. “He took that Eagle too,” Tony said.

“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!”

We all know the best way to survive in a changing market is to first use the resources you already have.  If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!” some wise person once said.  So this year, I want you all to know what to expect from me as your Ways & Means Chair.  My job is to MAKE YOU MONEY!  I need your help to earn money that will in turn, provide us all with opportunities we may not have been able to afford on our own.  United we Stand, Divided we Fall.”terry

I will not bombard you with requests for help constantly throughout the year.  I will, however, strive to meet with each and every one of you to find out how you can help me make our organization great.  We all joined the SLWCR for a reason.  I want to help you reach that goal while helping me earn the money to pay for our dreams.  We only have two things in this life with measurable value, TIME or MONEY.  If you can not help me with a donation, you can simply donate your time!  It will be well worth it, I promise;D  RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!!!”
My first BIG idea is ReGift/ReInvest in your SLWCR*!*
 ascot-winners
ReGift/ReInvest: Bring your unwanted gifts to the January SLWCR lunch in a small unmarked bag or just drop them off at my office (WATSON big building on Hancock directly across from Super Target)!  Admit it…we all have gifts that are perfectly nice but just aren’t something we would have picked for ourselves.  Why hide it away, afraid to hurt someone’s feelings, give them to me!  I will turn them into delightful Guest speaker gifts, Gift baskets for raffles, and door prizes for future events.  “One man’s Trash is another man’s Treasure!”
So ladies, and gentlemen; “Please give me your gym memberships, your smoked meats and canned fruit, clip on ties and yes even those self help books…I can and will use them for the good of SLWCR and get them out of your house at the same time!”  This year will be the best ever, because we won’t accept anything less.
“We are prepared, our goals defined…We will Overcome in 2009!!!!!”
SPREAD THE WORD.  FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO ANYONE THAT YOU KNOW CAN AND WILL BE A DRIVING FORCE IN OUR INDUSTRY IN 2009.

Thank you…see you in ’09 if not sooner
HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Monday Night Football…family style

mfbMonday night football is an American right….seriously, right after bear arms …& thighs right? Anyway, FOOTBALL is a way of life in the US. Now, I meant to say American football…I get lots of confusion since most of world thinks what I thought was soccer, is football (sorry Posh).
Mondays are tough. Without “something”to look forward to, Mondays would be hell. That shocking 1st day back but brain still not fully recharged, need brain numbing, kind of day. Like 1 day of crash diet…DRAMA.
Alas, Football was created! A reason not to kill the copier or cuss out the water depatment. Just a few more hours & my Browns will destroy (or at least make good showing & lots of heart) against the Eagles.
Don’t get me wrong, I picked Eagles vs Giants…so I am just going on sheer dumb gut team loyalty. BROWNS…despite the snowbowl & lean years. I have a feeling, we are due.
So…like my Browns, I will conquer this Monday! I will not allow “trash talk” to get me down. Team mates & peers negative outlooks won’t get me down. Bad calls & blind officals are an occupational hazard, NO SWEAT.
My BROWNS are gonna kill tonight! I feel no pain til kickoff…won’t even let a run in my hose cramp my style.
“Life’s like a box of chocolates…you never know what you’re gonna get.” said Forest Gump.
“That’s Best Buds…finding 4 friends whose favorite chocolate bars match a bag of Hersey’s minatures PERFECTLY!” …finally found our Special Dark=Chelsea*
(giggles).
*LIFE IS SWEET*

Veggin’ out to “Days of Thunder”

vegging-ut“The one thing you absolutely need to do to win a race?” Randy Quaid’s character asks …”You need to finish!”
I giggle as I think of that quote on so many different levels…
Now normally, I never have time to watch TV or even veg out. When I find an hour or two for myself that no one else needs I like to “take OFF My thinking cap” and watch a movie. Doesn’t have to be an award winning movie just one that fulfills my current need:D
Honestly, since the whole TomCat thing happened I wondered how Tom could ever leave or ever been w/Nicole Kidman? I mean Nicole is so refined & Tom is so Tom.
I remembered they made “Days of Thunder” together. Actually, not being a big movie buff I remember because someone on VH1 mentioned it in a spoof.
Long story short….I got a few hours to kill between being super mom & company Christmas Ice Queen! Soooo remote in hand, I take off my cap & begin surfing. Scroll, Scroll..”Days of Thunder…” VOÍLA!
“It’s meant to be! Finally, I can get to the bottom of this whole Nicole/Keith/Tom/Katie thing” giggling in background.
Oh! Did I mention I brought home a foot long chili dog from A&W? Ahhh…this is the good life.
*HAPPY HOLIDAYS*

Christmas Wish list…

xmasI love Christmas but hate thinking of “what I want for Christmas” & “what to get for him.”
So I got Jeff an iPod Touch. Now I need to find a dock….buy one thing need 8 more things! Of course he ants clothes & Morten bought him purple shoes & purple jacket. Yes, purple! Plus I sent him to Disney world tonight & he gets to take friends to movies every week.
For me, I just want all my girls to make me paper angels to take the turkey’s place above the fish tank. A hand made ornament or homemade sweet makes me happy. Most of all, I just want to see all my friends &  family have a very Merry Christmas!  Like a Mastercard moment, the gift of friendship is priceless.

Pursuit of Perfection…

Sisters and Partners

Sisters and Partners

Jingle Bells are ringing, cash registers are cha-chinging…

“Tis the Season to be jolly…” and of course wrap up all the loose ends of 2008 and prepare for an amazing 2009! This year was one of overcoming obstacles to become the best of the best. My sister Terry picked this year to try her hand at real estate. with exceptional results! She did so well that I decided to nominate her for “Rookie of the Year!” My nomination went something like this:

The secret to success is to start with a goal and make a plan to achieve it. My goal is to convince you to make my sister and partner Terry Parson’s Rookie of the Year! Just as I do in real estate, I like to assume the sale. Please step into my reality and let me know if you agree with me…

“If our 2008 Rookie of the Year came with a label, it would read, “WARNING: appearances may be deceiving!” This person exemplifies, *”Walk softly and carry a big stick.”

A recipe for this “rookie” would be to add equal parts bookworm/cheerleader, mother/daughter, teacher and full time student of life. Don’t forget that you also need all natural 100% multi million dollar producer ingredients!

Born the “middle child” to a proud all-American Army family, her life was spent on the move! Traveling throughout the United States and Europe by car or by plane, whether visiting wonders of the world such as the Grand Canyon on vacation or being “deployed” along side our father’s many moves while serving his country ever 2-3 yrs, she learned early the importance of “HOME.” No matter where our family moved, home was always the same. That was also when she began her real estate education! Quickly becoming an expert on relocation, renting, buying, and listing more homes with her family than most would in a lifetime before the age of 18, this Rookie understands our business the old fashioned way…by doing!.

This year’s Rookie’s formal training was no less extensive. She worked her way through college, partly as a single mother. Beginning with her partial cheerleading scholarship to SFCC to qualifying for the prestigious OWL scholarship for her outstanding performance as an adult student, taking full time credits while working full time in grocery store management, she learned early if there is a will there is indeed a way. This over achiever went on to earn her BA from MTSU with a dual major in Chemistry and Biology, even being named “2002 Senior Honor Student” for those departments.

Voted “Most likely to become a Supermodel” by her high school girlfriends, our rookie was always known as a doctor in training. So it was as much a surprise to her, as it was to everyone else when she obtained her real estate license in July of 2007. When asked what made her consider going into real estate our Rookie has commented, “Honestly, I went on a cruise to Costa Rica last summer with my sister and her company’s top agents. I had always been a little jealous because her boss was always sending her to places like Greece or Montreal so I was so excited when I decided to go on this cruise. Actually being on that cruise with that level of people made me realize how amazing real estate really was…I decided right on that boat, I’m going to be a Realtor and work for Papa Watson too.”

In her first year as a full time agent our Rookie has already successfully negotiated short sales, foreclosures, international real estate transactions and managed to become a multimillion dollar producer in the worst real estate/credit crisis in recent history. Not bad for your typical first year college educated Realtor right? Throw in the fact she ia also Secretary of SLWCR, co-chair for the Royal Ascot Fashion Show, caregiver to her retired parents, teaches life skills to middle school students for JA and is also the mother of 4 whose ages range from 3 to 15!

Ladies and gentlemen, our 2008 Rookie of the Year is….Terry Parsons!”

Please make my dream of having my sister win the Rookie of the Year come true!

Thank you,
Kim Johnson

Silent Night

The holidays are stressful. Reporters blare about higher suicide/domestic violence and child abuse rates. I sit and wonder why people lash out and hurt others when they feel helpless?
I know the pain of working non stop just to be close to keeping up, but also the pride of being ahead of the game. Equal. Made sweeter by the other? Like Ying/Yang. Balance.
December is especially difficult for me because of several unfortunate events. 15 yrs ago, my son’s 1st Christmas, was spent recovering from All Children’s Hospital. 4 yrs ago I was brutally assaulted at a hotel I managed, spending months in recovery. Just last night, I was attacked outside one of my best friends front door.
I catch myself feeling sorry for myself, then angry for not being stronger…over & over reviewing how I could have changed things. “Why did this have to happen to me?”
Poor me, went to my favorite vice, LA Tan. I hurry to grab my weekly jolt of sunshine, truely believing in its power of rejuvination. Hoping to lift my spirits, I reach for my lotion & see a picture of “my girl, Heather.” Heather: tells me what lotion I need this time, saves me from spray tan drama, newlywed…immune to wedding annoyance gag reflex. Smiling no matter what & always here when I come to get cheered up. The one who giggled when I told her my fiance was finally coming home for Thanksgiving, eyebrows raised.
Heather looks like an Angel in the pic on the wall. The photographer captured her face glowing, her smile frozen in the moment of happiness forever, on her wedding day. “Please donate to Heather’s Angel fund” it said below.
“My Heather”was Chelsea’s Heather. My Heather was also “the unknown female killed by a drunk driver driver driving home w/her sister on Sunday night after Thanksgiving.”
I imagine her smiling, laughing about the deals she got on black Friday, cheerful as always. Then I imagine the moment after the accident. SILENCE. The world will be LESS without her in it.
“I THANK GOD FOR BEING BLESSED.”
